Namsan Authentic Korean Cuisine

While visiting Calgary for work, I had a mad hankering for some Korean food. My meetings got out a bit late so I looked up late night Korean food spots and found Namsan… which was a 26 minute walk from my hotel one way. My craving must have been intense because I didn’t even think about it and started my long walk there.The layout of the restaurant is interesting. The bathroom is in the basement, the first floor is a bit small but has some tables, and the second floor has most of the dining area space. Took off one star because we had to wait quite a while to be seated, even though there was already a vacant table… the same one we were eventually seated at when the waitress allowed us.Other than that, we understand it was probably busy or maybe they were short-staffed. The food was sooo good, and the portions were huge! The staff were friendly too 😊I also loved the side dishes! We ordered cheese dakgalbi and seafood pancake. Both were sooo good! Didn’t know there’s a round 2 for the galbi lol. They turned it into fried rice when we couldn’t finish it, which made it even better!

Dare I say the best late night Korean food in Calgary? (It easily is.)Beyond the food — which was delicious (the seafood pancake was the best I’ve ever had. Unbelievably light and crispy), the service was impeccable. A special thank you to the owner, Steven, who personally helped me lug my baby’s stroller up the stairs. Seriously above and beyond :)Every table comes with complimentary banchan. The water is ice cold. The frozen makgeolli cocktails have a special place in my heart. The Dak Galbi is so filling and the fried rice at the end makes sure everyone is satiated. 11/10

Tried the army stew, and chicken skewers which includes fried chicken skins. The skewers were really big and the stew was great as well, nice for cold winter season. Inside is not extremely spacious and space between tables is a little bit tight. Service was pretty good and I like that it’s open late as well.

Was recommended to try this by a local. It did not disappoint. Unable to speak yoo much to the service and atmosphere as it was a takeout order. However the food delivered was delicious. I opted out of rice and asked kindly to replace with as many Serrano peppers as they could and not did they deliver! Aside from the fried gizzard not being crispy (due to delivery), honestly no notes. Bossam was a healthy portion with all the fixings, and the seafood pancake was hefty (did not come with a sauce though).Would definitely try a dine in experience next time we come back.

Thank you so much to our amazing server Sierra!! We went to Namsan today for my friend's birthday and Sierra was very kind enough to help us prepare birthday cakes, make the moment really meaningful and enjoyable for our friend group.

The ultimate experience the best costumer service I’ve ever had great authentic food with the best cocktails I love it here we come here every week! You have to try the cold noodle for sure too best in town !!!

The portions are generous, the food is fresh, tasty unusual and interesting, the service is courteous and prompt as well. We visited Namsan on a weekday and by 8:00 PM, the place was full. A restaurant, after all is said and done, is all about the food!
