Our story
The Best of Kin family—brothers Ryan and Collin and close friend Cole—is bonded by beer and by the tradition of sharing a drink and catching up after a hard day’s work. More than 10 years of home brewing led Collin to study science and complete a master’s degree in brewing and distilling at Scotland’s Heriot-Watt University. After Ryan and Collin’s father passed away in November 2014, the brothers decided to pursue their shared dream of opening a brewery and creating a place where friends, family, and community could come together over beer or another beverage of choice. Cole brought extensive restaurant-industry experience and a focus on food and craft beer.Best of Kin Social opened in Calgary’s Sunalta neighbourhood on September 23, 2022. We serve beer, nostalgic comfort food, and family classics in a cozy setting inspired by a cooler version of a grandmother’s basement. Our goal is to make the best beer we possibly can, share it with the people we love, and raise a glass to those we have lost.

Samiha IbrahimOk where do I even start this spot is absolutely magnificent. From the moment I walked in I was greeted and seated immediately by my server. The food came in time chef’s kiss 10/10 on my entire meal best of kin made me feel like I was with my family as a first timer and an out of towner whoever wants to eat that good good whether you’re dining solo or with your tribe get over here ASAP you will have the best foodie lover experience !!!!! Loved the various events that take place here (craft nights, live music, food events, etc. they even had a tot and mom class!). We had their in-house hazy IPA that was delicious. Solid menu with lots of variety! Spacious venue, and a private patio. Will definitely be back!
Csyra PiañarLoved this place. Perfect for an outdoor spot and their patio is DOG-FRIENDLY! We came here for a quick lunch spot with our dog and they were wonderful (gave our puppy some water too).We ordered some Kennebec Fries to share and had the BBQ Korean Chicken sandwich and the Pork Belly Bao as mains. The Boozy Lemonade cocktail was a nice touch for a hot warm day
Steve AWe had high hopes for this place with only one night in Calgary before heading west. The food and beer here was good - maybe even great but the service was absolutely atrocious. Several tables around us cancelled their food or just straight up left and we wish we had. 30+ minutes before seeing a server and another 60 before getting food. We hope to never be back.
Paul MWe were coming back from Canmore and came back into Calgary at a weird time around 2-3pm when a lot of places weren't open as they switched from lunch to dinner.We ended up stopping here and had an absolutley fabulous meal and some cold brews. We got a sampling plate with some meats and cheeses and it was so good. We also got a few other things like wings and some salads.We had such a good meal we wanted to come again but sadly we weren't able to return in the short time we had left in Calgary. Excellent place though, if I lived in Calgary I would come often!

live music baby! went here for the end of year recital of my son (who was enrolled at anacrusis music)..... great atmosphere to hangout, tasty foods.... next time i'll bring my dog and sit at the patio....

Went in for a beer and snack. Definitely want to try more of the food as the fries were good and I’ve heard good things about the bbq. Had the radler and honey lager for the first time. Both were great. Patio is nice but it was a bit windy and loud. Great spot!
