I am very disappointed with the quality and portion size of the shawarma meal I received from Damascus Restaurant in Calgary.I paid approximately $140 and expected a meal that reflected both the price and the reputation of authentic Syrian cuisine. Unfortunately, the food did not meet those expectations.The amount of mayonnaise was excessive—there seemed to be more mayonnaise than shawarma itself. The portion quality and overall presentation were far below what I would expect for a meal at this price point.As someone who was hoping to enjoy a taste of home and relive the authentic flavor of shawarma from my country, this experience was particularly disappointing. I paid a premium price expecting a professional standard of food, quality ingredients, and a memorable dining experience.I hope

The presentation was good, but the shawarma was just average and didn’t meet our expectations compared to the Gulf-style taste. The BBQ platter was also not worth the price, as the quantity was quite limited.On a positive note, the hummus and garlic sauce were very good—my kids especially enjoyed them with the fries. Overall, it was an okay experience.

I recently tried the Large Mixed Donair Wrap at Damascus Fine Mediterranean Foods and it was honestly the best shawarma I’ve ever had!The wrap was fresh, very tasty, and full of flavor. The meat was juicy, the sauce was delicious, and everything was perfectly balanced. Big portion and very satisfying!I will definitely come back again. Highly recommend this place!

Honestly, this is the best shawarma in Calgary. The portion size is generous, the chicken is juicy and well-seasoned, and everything tastes fresh. The wrap itself is perfectly balanced — not overloaded, but packed just right so you get meat, veggies, and sauce in every bite.What really stands out is how flavorful it is without being greasy. The garlic sauce adds a nice kick, and the ingredients don’t overpower each other. It actually reminds me of authentic European-style shawarma — simple, satisfying, and done right.

Our experience was absolutely delightful here. Everything from the food to the service and the vibes. Portions are huge and we couldn’t finish any of our food even though it was irresistible. I got the arabic style shawarma. It was very delicious and tasted very authentic. The grape leaves were perfectly made. The best part of our meal was the Kunafa. Hands down the best I’ve had in Canada.We met the owner and he was very gracious and friendly. Our server was amazing as well. Overall a wonderful experience and we will be coming back.

Awesome food the Tabbouli Salad is fresh and made proper, the Large Mixed Donair Wrap (Chicken and Beef) was on point, the Beef Donair Poutine was also satisfying good cheese curds. Would highly recommend eating here worth the money.

Damascus consistently delivers excellent food and this platter as well as stuffed grape leaves were no exception. The rice is loaded with flavour and veggies and the salad is refreshing.

I ordered a catered lunch for 20 people and the entire experience was wonderful. Incredible customer service, amazing Food, everything was delivered as expected. Would order from Damascus again in a heartbeat!

Ordered a chicken shawarma platter and a chicken shawarma salad. Both were delicious , great priced and generous portions. All of the staff/owners were so beyond friendly and nice and were so helpful in recommendations. The garlic sauce is AMAZING, as good as what you get in Lebanon.

Delicious food. The guys behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. I got the chicken shawarma and added some falafel! It was the perfect meal to eat in the park on a summer day!
