We came to The Sweatered Hen for brunch while looking for a spot downtown after an early appointment, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice.The restaurant itself is beautiful, the ambiance is warm and inviting, and the staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely engaging. You can tell a lot of care has gone into every detail, from the decor to the presentation of the dishes.We ordered the Carne Asada Bowl and the Tuna Melt sandwich. My husband had his steak cooked medium rare, just the way he likes it, and he absolutely loved it. As for the Tuna Melt—what more can I say? It was incredibly satisfying, especially paired with the tomato soup. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared.Kudos to the chef and the entire team. I had a good experience on my first visit. We didn’t wait long (under 10 mins) to be seated and the staff were efficient along with maintaining excellent customer service.Overall, the food was great but the portions were on the smaller side. The flavours were great, a little salty on the fries and rooster potatoes. The added cucumber for kids chicken tenders were nice. The sausage had stronger herb taste than expected. The avocado toast was excellent.

Came here for brunch back in December and I STILL remember how good it was.the tuna sandwich with tomato soup was unreal. The soup portion was a bit small (or maybe I’ve just been spoiled by oversized bowls), but it was so good I was lowkey offended when it ended. And I’m extremely picky with fish, but this was a full-on euphoric experienceWe also got the eggs Benny with home fries - it was equally delicious, no notes. We shared a lemon scone as a starter too, which was really good, just a tiny bit sweeter than my ideal.Overall, amazing food, super fast and friendly service (especially for how busy it was), and definitely a place I’ll be coming back to!!!

Had a wonderful girls lunch on Saturday. Although it was busy, we were able to get a table right away. The servers were friendly and helpful. Service was quick and everything was delicious. The portions were a good size.

Very cozy atmosphere with nice low fi music playing. The food we ordered was beautifully bright and colorful, and the granola yogurt presentation is pleasantly surprising. We also had the hot coco Nanaimo bar for the yyc hot coco fest, and this one is definitely up there with its rich creamy texture. My only advice is to ask for no cilantro beforehand if you have the soap gene. It was not listed on the menu for the Greek yogurt granola or pancakes, but it was there. Was easy to pick off at least!

Every time I come here it’s a great experience. The staff are attentive and friendly. Food is always incredible.

This is my second visit this month. A great place for breakfast and lunch. Fresh, sustainable products, sourced from local farms and merchants. Many specialty items are crafted in house (sauces, pastries, etc.) and they partner with Begonia Bakehouse and others for sourdough and other breads.

It’s still the best brunch spot in town, but now that I’ve had dinner there, holy cow. The menu isn’t big but it’s fantastic. The cacio e pepe was the best I’ve had. Just go. Thursday to Saturday. Not open late but who cares?

In the heart of 17th avenue is The Sweatered Hen. It's directly across from Tompkins park and it's fantastic. Interesting takes on breakfast standards, hearty sandwiches, excellent coffee and pastries. It's cute, it's great, and the service is always friendly and efficient.

My granddaughters and I had an excellent meal, superb service, and extremely reasonable pricing. We love that establishment.
