Our story
We are a Calgary Southern BBQ and beer house inspired by local producers and fresh seasonal Canadian ingredients. Our kitchen focuses on classic Southern smokehouse cuisine with an Albertan twist, paired with a wide selection of local craft beer, bourbon, and cocktails.Located on Stephen Avenue in downtown Calgary, we aim to create an openly social atmosphere where guests can relax, celebrate, and enjoy everything from corporate events and birthday parties to a casual night out on the town.

Kait ArmstrongReally enjoyed sharing the BBQ player with my husband! Corn was amazing and hubby loved the Mac and cheese when he added the smoky bbq sauce to it. All the meat cooked to perfection too! Good amount of gluten friendly menu options, loads of beers to chose from, and our server was very friendly. The restauraunt also got super busy around 12:30 so we got a table just in time!
Dharmit DholakiaI visited on June 10, 2026, and while the food was decent, my experience was overshadowed by the server’s attitude. When I didn’t leave a tip due to my budget, I was met with an arrogant comment. I believe all customers deserve to be treated respectfully, regardless of tipping decisions.Additionally, the service was slow when I visited earlier.I hope management can address this so future guests have a more positive experience.
Debbie SI spent some time here the other day waiting to line up for an event at The Palace. Our first server was Annie. She was super friendly, welcoming and attentive. After she went off shift Priscila looked after us. She was super sweet and checked on us often. They had some great happy hour specials. Tried the babe bites and mac and cheese. Both were delicious.
Tejinder MangatCame early with a party of 4 to watch the Olympic hockey game and were seated near the exterior door. With temperatures around -20°C, the cold drafts made it very uncomfortable to sit there. The door isn’t sealed. The offer made to us to switch tables was a secluded one and wouldn’t really help to be part of the overall atmosphere.Our waitress was great and tried to help, but the seating near the entrance is just not great in winter.Advice to others: if you’re coming during cold weather, avoid tables by the door!!! it gets freezing.

The Social Beer Haus on Stephen Avenue is one of the best and possible the best restaurant I have ever visited, the staff is the best people I have ever met,the food is awesome They go beyond expectations for their customers. Excellent service from friendly attentive staff. We only had a couple of burgers because we were watching Arsenal getting beaten by AFC Bournemouth and didn’t really read menu! Read menu when match had finished and it is great. We missed out and will definitely go back to try one of their platters. Thanks again for helping us out with the football (soccer!)

Hi there, I don't typically write reviews but had to with this visit. First time eating there, with some gf's and had by far the best service from a waitress, her name was Tanisha. She was so beautiful and polite, food was out in such a fast turn around with no mistakes to our order and we never went thirsty. This place has great food, but the atmosphere and service was what I loved.

Very large selection of beer, patient waitresses (given our level of English), simple but good dishes all for a fair price. Pub and sports atmosphere. We went there twice and had the same impressions both times.
