Our story
Bell’s Café has been a staple at the far end of Calgary’s Marda Loop for 30 years. Originally run by the Bell family, the café continues as a small family- and friend-run operation. We are known for fresh-baked muffins and scones made every morning, and we aim to create a little community in Marda Loop. Our café also supports community connections through local artists and organizations including Skipping Stone and Pansy Club.

Ian McKenzieA great little gem in the Altadore neighbourhood. One gets a sense of its quality by the number of customers in the place whenever we have visited. We stopped by this afternoon for coffee, chai and carrot cake. All was well prepared. We were third in line, but the wait wasn't too long. The drinks were well-made, and the carrot cake was moist and delicious. The coffee they serve is from Humble Coffee Roasters a Calgary business. It's good to see one local business supporting another. The cafe's ambiance is nice, with lots of art on display and for sale, as well as the work of local artisans available to purchase. All in all, I highly recommend this for a coffee visit.
Curtis VoyerIt was decently busy when we arrived but a few tables in the back were open. No lineup to order. Very friendly service. Ordered a muffin, scone, coffee, and a BLT sandwich on whole grain. Everything was delicious but especially the sandwich!! Definitely will be coming back again.
Jordan TeitgeOmg the muffins are the best I have found in Calgary so far! Absolutely delicious! The fancy coffee I ordered was also very good. Service was great! Only downside was it felt a bit crowded because it was a busy Saturday morning.

Lara GouldI really like this little cafe. It’s super close to my house and service is a little slow, so I usually order takeout and grab some food and a coffee during my dog walk. I’ve had a few sandwiches that were super mediocre, but the deluxe breakfast bagel is delicious and not too expensive. Their latte with salted caramel shot is awesome, and the large is way bigger than others in the area for a better price. The staff has always been lovely to me. Super nice that they usually have homemade dog treats for free too, so my dog directs me there most days!

I love Bell's Cafe. It has none of the gentrified, sterilized atmosphere that some of the other local places have. Great coffee, great espresso, great food, great staff, and tons of seating! Also a safe place for LGBTQ+ people to be!

Honestly, one of my favourite cafes I have ever been to. So inclusive. Lovely staff, lovely art, lovely food and beverage.
