On Friday afternoon we popped down to East Calgary for a lovely walk along the river. We needed to enjoy a bevy on a patio, so we chose Charbar. We had a perfect table outside on their patio. Our server was Chris, and she was lovely. Very attentive and knowledgeable. Seeing as there were four of us, we split some meals and small bites. The charred Napa Cabbage salad was big enough to split, so do that if you chose. The Corn ribs were very unique but delicious. This is a side dish and a smaller portion, so remember that as you may want to order two or more of them. I had the Alberta beef burger with fries. It was the lunch size, so smaller, but perfect. Today was my first visit to Charbar and it was amazing. It was busy and we did not have a reservation, but the staff was very friendly and had a table for us after only a few minutes. We had the Gemstone Steak, and the Gaucho Burger, both were absolutely incredible. Portion sizes were good. Derek, our waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable about the steak options. Service was pretty quick, it did not feel like we waited long for food. The atmosphere is good, not too noisy or crowded. For desert we ended with the cheesecake, which was also delicious.

Just had an amazing meal at Charbar! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere hit the perfect balance of upscale yet relaxed — great for a date night or dinner with friends. The food was exceptional: the grilled meats were juicy and full-flavored, the seafood was fresh, and the sides were delicious and well-seasoned. Service was attentive and friendly, making the whole experience feel effortless. The rooftop patio (if the weather’s good!) is definitely worth a visit too — great views of the river and city. Awesome experience! Great food, great drinks and awesome service. Definitely recommend the porterhouse steak, octopus and cauliflower dish. For drinks, the kinky boots and as you wish were fantastic. The server was also very knowledgeable about the menu. Would definitely recommend for a date night.

Unfortunately the burger was not what I was hoping for, especially as this is a steak house. It wasn't that balanced of a burger and the burger patty itself lacked seasoning. The buns were also oddly crumbly, but this is a personal preference.Server was great and the atmosphere is peachy. The cx service was very good.But for the price point and the uninspiring burger, I am not sure if I could recommend. Then again perhaps their steaks and it's accompaniments are what I should try before a firm judgement.
