My boyfriend brought me to Shokunin for my birthday and we had such an amazing experience from start to finish. Our server was an absolute delight! so friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful when it came to recommending and explaining menu selections.

We had an amazing dinner at shokunin. We ordered about four dishes, two skewers, and two sushi rolls, totaling $196. The standout dish was the stuffed eggplant tempura. I'm not a big fan of eggplant, but this was by far the best thing I've ever tasted.

Good food and very well executed, just not much of a vibe when we went. It was an early Sunday dinner so timing may have played a role. All the dishes were great and unique, especially the scallop, salmon belly, oyster chicken and gyoza.

We had the pleasure of celebrating my partner's birthday at this incredible restaurant. We sat at the bar, where V was our server and bartender. She was fantastic--her dinner recommendations were spot on, and every dish was bursting with flavor.

Shokunin was a really special dinner for my wife and I. It was our final day in Calgary (after seeing beautiful Banff!) and having watched The Final Table, we wanted to see what Darren's food was all about. We were blown away! We had a spread of sushi, yakitori, and kushiyaki and everything was superb.

Stopped by for a late night bite after dinner since there was a wait around 8pm. Ambiance is quick and modern, food is WELL DONE. Skewers were cooked perfectly, including drummette and skin on chicken breast. Sushi was also very good, we got the sablefish, salmon belly, and hand cut scallop with nuoc cham as recommended by our server.

Excellent in every way. I had the omakase menu with drink pairings. More food than I'd imagined but with a great view of the kitchen and such high quality ingredients and cooking I enjoyed the experience very much. Recommended for anyone

The best Japanese Yakitori place hands down in Calgary. Sashimi and Sushi are arguably, among the top 5 here. Modern chic with traditional nuances of traditional Japanese cuisine around kitchen. Incredible art and hip hop culture common in Japan displayed.
