I went here with my family and everything we ordered was delicious! The staff were very kind and explained the menu for us.I'm very glad this place is open again so I can eat the best salt and pepper fried squid in the city. I'd definitely recommend the crispy chicken with garlic sauce.

Famous for its Salt and Pepper Squid, I tried taking a picture of the full plate but most of it disappeared off the plate immediately as soon as the plate hit the table… Good family run restaurant, the dim sum is hand made and good quality. Parking in downtown china town can be challenging but it is worth a trip.

Ho Won Chinese Food Restaurant in Calgary was a pleasant surprise - from the exceptional service to the absolutely delicious dishes, this place exceeded our expectations.To start, the salt and pepper fried squid was an absolute standout. I just wanted to drop a line. I recently decided to try their take out. I like the squid like many other reviews mentioned it. The squid was cooked to perfection, holding onto its sweet taste, and the batter was light, crispy, and had just the right kick of flavor. A little tip though - try to enjoy it while it's still warm. Like any fried goodness, it might lose a bit of its crispiness over time. But trust me, when it's fresh, it's a crispy, yummy delight that you won't want to miss.And can we talk about portion sizes! If you can get past the quirks of this place it is an absolute gem. It has the best Salt & Pepper squid I have EVER had and there Palace Style chicken is amazing. I take all out of town guests here and they have yet to let me down. Even the simple easy won-ton soup is the best most flavourful I have ever had. Portion and value is best ever. I've been coming to the Ho Won for many years. The atmosphere is very authentic, and the prices are the best in Chinatown. Especially good are the shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, shrimp and beef pancake, sticky rice, and salt and pepper squid. Be prepared, many of the servers do not speak much English, so get ready for a fun, authentic experience. Try something new and interesting to eat!

Came here early (around 5pm) and good thing we did because the place was packed by 6. Excellent food, not too oily as many Chinese restaurants do it. We ordered off the Chinese menu thanks to a Chinese speaking family member - we're told that the food is different than what is on the English menu.

Friendly staff and very welcoming. Generous portions. We could not manage two main courses and fried rice. One would have been ample. Excellent value and recommended

A legendary Chinese restaurant for ginger beef, salt & pepper squid. Lunch crowd is usual and reservation is recommended. The price range is very acceptable. This is likely one of the places with the best price in Chinatown.

Salt and Pepper Fried Squid is the absolute best in the entire city of Calgary - crunchy and super flavorful!!
